Frankenhyper™ Machine

Frankenhyper™ Machine

The Sorinex Original Frankenhyper was created in 2013 and combines the Glute Ham with a pendulum hip extension. Add plate storage, ball storage and a tab for handles that allow you to increase upper body work capacity, and you have a monster posterior chain training machine that only takes up a few square feet of space in your facility. The Frankenhyper allows for the entire rear of the body to be worked through contraction and decompression unlike anything before. The pendulum style weight arm is used for swinging hip extensions and can also be used for upper body movements like rows, face pulls, bicep curls, triceps, pull thru’s, presses, TKE’s, YTM’s. Incorporate abdominal movements in the supine position with integrated med ball storage within arms reach. Each Frankenhyper comes standard with bumper weight plate storage and band attachment points.

This is the best version of a reverse hyper + GHD I’ve used. It has everything the Rogue donkey has, but better - removable insert for split pad, a dedicated anchor point for the leg straps on the RH, and a foot pedal adjustment system for the GHD foot plate. Unfortunately, it is made-to-order so lead times and price are its biggest downsides.

The Frankenhyper is a great unit if you fall into its specific user category. It’s expensive, but gives the user both reverse hyper and GHD functionality in the space of only one of those machines. It’s also on par with most of its American made peers for price (compared to Power Lift, EliteFTS, Dynamic, etc. Rogue is cheaper). It’s a big, heavy machine that is made slightly more maneuverable by having handles and wheels, but you won’t be moving it often. For performance, no combo machine will be as good as its dedicated counterparts. The “strength curve” falls off on GHRs at the most extended range, since hitting the table of a the reverse hyper supports your body weight. Also, for reverse hypers, the swivel point could be a bit further from the edge of the “table” as sometimes the hip/groin area feels the arm rotating around. It’s never a pinching/snagging issue, but I’ve never run into this with dedicated reverse hyper machines. Overall a great machine, so long as you fall into its specific user case. Given infinite space, dedicated machines are better, and probably not more expensive. Luckily I got my unit used, but overall recommend it.
