Friction Grip KG Change Plates (IWF)

Friction Grip KG Change Plates (IWF)

When a half-kilogram can mean the difference between matching or beating a personal record, you need a change plate that loads fast and won’t budge on the bar. Rogue’s Friction Grip KG Change Plates meet the challenge. These durable, IWF-approved competition discs feature a rubberized “Friction Grip” interior coating, designed for quick, stable loading on the outside of a collar. Before the advent of the International Weightlifting Federation's "1KG Rule" in 2005, competitions required that a bar be advanced by 2.5KG increments. This led to long delays as loaders had to remove collars in order to add weight. With FG change plates like these, competitive lifters can add 1KG without adjusting the collar position—greatly reducing downtime at events and keeping the focus on the athletes themselves.

These are great for Olympic weightlifting. The grip is nice for adding on the outside of the collars for jumps without having to take off the collars between sets. I was able to get these secondhand which makes them a better value, but they are expensive for the average gym goer. Definitely only worth the purchase if you are serious about weightlifting training.

Change plates tend to be more expensive as they need to be more accurate. These ones are very nice and coated with a rubber/urethane to keep them looking fresh. If you don't do olympic lifting however you're prob better off getting something more affordable. I had the LBS version, but they are the same.

Very expensive per lb plates ( KG i mean). Unless you are competing in this sport, I see no reason to pay this much for this little weight. That IWF engraving is very expensive I guess. In all seriousness, these feel like fine plates, but no different than rubber coated that aren't IWF certified. The grip function is convenient and cool, but does make putting them on and off a chore. Again, unless this is your sport, I don’t think you will get much benefit from these.
