FTX FUNCTIONAL TRAINER

I’ve found myself constantly thinking about upgrading my functional trainer to something a little bit better in performance and functionality but man, I can’t quit this lil machine. I got mine back when the pandemic hit and it was going for a $999 hot sale at Costco. Think it came out to just under $1200 with taxes included. Since then I’ve used this thing relentlessly. It happens to fit perfectly in the spot I have dedicated for a functional trainer with its compact size. I do wish it was a bit taller so that I didn’t have to lean over to hit certain arm movements or so that I didn’t have to lift my legs when doing pull ups. Other than that it’s hard to really complain about this thing. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re over 6ft or just stupid strong, you may need/want bigger weight stacks

This is a solid functional for the money. I believe the width between the pulleys provides great versatility for chest, back, shoulders, etc. The weight stacks seem to be enough for most people, especially when doing the majority of functional trainer movements. The pulleys feel smooth, and the entire machine has held up well over 5 years of regular use. I highly recommend the functional trainer because you really don't need to spend a lot to get in your training at home.

There are not many options when it comes to functional trainers that fit in a basement with 82in tall ceilings, especially budget ones. The FTX has been great for me. Smooth pulleys, good build quality, and low price. All of my biggest complaints are easily remedied. Firstly, the weight stacks are not very heavy, but a gym pin has worked great with this so far. Secondly, the included carabiners are low quality, but I quickly replaced them with better ones purchased from amazon. Lastly, as others have stated, the labels for the weight plates are not pounds, just arbitrary numbers. I solved this by not using them. Instead, I wrote the weight on each plate with a white chalk marker. It starts at 7.5lb and increases by 5lb with each plate.

Had the Costco version for a while and was my first weight stack piece of equipment in the home gym. Works well and an incredible value. However, is limited by the height. Included accessories leave a lot to be desired (especially the bench) - so expect to replace them with better options. Weight stacks do not have listed weights, but rather just sequential numbers so you don't really know how much you are lifting.
