I think I've been able to mimic this in a pretty effective way. In one hand I'm using my rogue cable stack in the other a pulley. I initially set the pulley side up on a box. Once I get some momentum it falls off the box and give me enough slack to re-adjust the other side.

We have built a pretty elaborate Hercules hold for our strongman competitions ,picture attached below

My Hercules hold DIY setup involves backing my truck onto a small ramp while adding an attachment to its hitch and to a static point in the gym (loaded weight tree). Great value for the cost, but it takes someone helping to safely operate.
