Mammoth Belt Squat

Mammoth Belt Squat

The Mammoth Belt Squat is a powerful strength building rack attachment designed to maximize leg strength while minimizing strain on the back and shoulders. By transferring the load to your hips, the Mammoth Belt Squat removes the weight from your back and shoulders completely, allowing you to get into a deeper, more natural squat. It also allows you to train legs at higher volumes without being limited by back fatigue. With an adjustable length from 39" to 48.75", the Mammoth Belt Squat attachment provides the full functionality of a commercial belt squat machine without the need for a costly, space consuming commercial unit.

This thing is fucking great! I use it with the Rogue Wall Strip. I use it for every workout. Single arm rows, barbell rows, RDLs, belt squats, marches. I did a DIY overhead pulley system so I can load it up for lat pull downs, tricep cable pulldowns, etc. It is one of the most versatile pieces of gym equipment out there and it folds up to basically nothing. Highly highly recommend!

This was a great addition to my gym. I have had some back issues in the past, so I like to use this as a an alternative to a 3rd squat day every week. It’s a nice way to isolate the legs and take my back completely out of the equation. It can get a little wobbly with higher weights and one of the holes to attach the kickstand (which I’d argue is an essential addition) was misaligned, so I knocked a star for performance and build quality. It was easy to assemble and significantly cheaper than other belt squat options. Highly recommend this piece to anyone looking for a squat accessory/alternative.

I have a slipped disk and this enables me to squat without any load on my back. Priceless. The length of the lever is a strong point, I wouldn't want any shorter. And the kickstand is a must. I wouldn't have gotten this without that. Do I prefer normal squats? Yes. But is this a great way to squat without taxing your back. Yes. One day I'll have the space (and cash) to buy a cable belt squat, but until then, for the price and (lack of) space this takes it, it's perfect for a home gym. The belt, is good, but can pinch a bit. Just need to get it in the right position to avoid this.

The Fringe Sport Mammoth Belt Squat with kickstand is a great accessory for leg day. The kickstand is a must have. It comes with a belt as well, which seems to be satisfactory and works well. There is a little bit of a learning curve to figuring out how high to attach it to your rack and foot placement. Once you figure that out, it feels pretty good and I can't feel any forward pull like some people mention. I like not having to load my spine while still being able to get more volume in that mimics a squat movement. 5 stars on build quality, value, and performance (for this style belt squat).

Good budget option for belt squats. Purchased in 2025, I have added the kickstand, dual horns, and swan attachment. Built well. A little of a learning curve before dialing in your position. Good build quality. Attached the swan to a 2.3x2.3 5/8 hole rack without issues, just some extra washers

Despite numerous tinkerings (and even an aftermarket handle), I can't find a way to exceed 135lbs in loaded weight without the feeling of being pulled forward, just messing up my groove. But this might just be the nature of lever belt squats. I've since moved on to Bulgarians and might eventually sell this.

Solidly built and very affordable. I really like it as a squat alternative on secondary (lighter) leg days when running undulating periodization. Good quad and glute emphasis without the fatigue of compressive spinal loading. The quick attachment on the neck is padded with smooth plastic so it won't mar the finish on your rack. Or you can set it up as I did, on a dedicated 4x4 post that can then serve as storage space for the unit when not in use, as well as more plate storage. Since a 4x4 wooden post is actually only 3.5"x3.5", it's barely wider than the 3x3 rack upright and the neck of the belt squat arm will mount easily if you just back off the allen screws on the crossbar by a couple turns. Loaded to 350lb with the dual horns and the vertical plate holder all on it, it moves smoothly. Does require some getting used to in order to find your balance point but after that it feels like it's going to be a permanent part of the leg days rotation. My only gripe on the build is there's a little wobble in the vertical plate holder but nothing that's dangerous. Easy to assemble with channel locks and a socket wrench, the disposable one they included with the dual horns is a joke, throw it away. The included belt is perfectly adequate but nothing special. The kickstand was included with the purchase; if it's not, then wait until they offer that deal again.

Thanks to the Mammoth (with kickstand and dual weight horns), belt squats have become my go-to squat variation for leg days. Though there is some forward pull, because of the longer lever arm I've found that the feel is comparable to similar units I've used in commercial settings. Fair warning--it does require some experimention to find a position for the fulcrum that works best for your anatomy and preferred stimulus. If you want the movement to provide a stimulus that is closer to a barbell back squat, then setting the fuclrum slightly above the knees seems to work best. Alternatively, if you want to achieve a greater quad stimulus, you can place the fulcrum higher, mimicking the path of a pendulum squat machine. I highly recommend biting the bullet and upgrading to the kickstand and dual weight horns for the best experience. My only gripe is that Fringe has yet to produce a handle bar for it--it is awkward to use without something to hold onto, and it requires some creativity and/or third party hardware to find an adequate solution (pictured: Rep PR5000 rear stabilizer + BoS Junction/Stand Rack Connection + Fringe Swan Neck for the center mount, and Fringe Slim Gym J-Cups + Rep Utility Weight Horns for the Handles)

If you don't have the room or funds for a belt squat this is a great alternative so you can still do squats without loading your spine. Obviously there are draw backs to this over a true belt squat but you'll still get most of the training benefits
