I love squats and its my strongest lift but I struggle with shoulder mobility. I started out with a Vulcan pro SSB and it was both super heavy and uncomfortable - the normal SSB pushes you forward too much. The Marrs bar light (I have the 30lb version) is amazing for lifting heavier. Once you learn that you need to stand wider so you can have your elbows go between your legs, you can easily get dialed in with this bar and it is easier to keep more upright. I can lift 425 with my bar - which is slightly more than in is rated for and is the most plates I can fit using Rogue bumpers due to the short collars. I also use a Fringe Sport Longhorn cambered bar to squat and can lift more with the Marrs. I met the creator at the HCG 2026 and he mentioned you can buy longer collars from 3rd party companies and that it will hold much more than it is rated for which has been my experience. Really enjoy using it in tandem with the Longhorn and it is very good for back extension good mornings and standing calf raises.

Haven’t tried other SSB’S but love using this Bar. Squat is my weakest of the big 3. But still I am getting close to the weight limit and kind of regret not getting the original version. The Cost is definitely the biggest negative, so hope they can somehow reduce the cost.

My shoulders don’t like getting into position for squats, so I trained with a generic SSB for a while. I have a reimbursement for workout equipment from my job, so I splurged on the Marrs Bar 2.0. I liked the lighter starting weight so it was easier to move around my small basement gym. I don’t squat 400lbs so I didn’t worry about the max capacity, and decided that if I ever make it to a 400 lb squat that I’d be more happy about that than annoyed at having to get the “big brother” version of the bar. I typically wear a sweatshirt when using this; without the extra padding it sometimes hurts my AC joint. The powder coat gets a little scraped up on my Darko Anchors, which are an almost mandatory way to store this bar. Overall this has helped me keep progressing my squat so I’m pleased with the purchase.

In a sea of assistance squat bars that are made too wide for the female frame, this bar is the perfect weight and size. Most SSBs overbuilt for the goals of the tool, which is purchased by people struggling with a standard barbell, rehab, front squats, hatfield squats and walking lunges. (But certainly not limited to this) IMO the Lite (2.0) is the ideal version of the Marrs Bar, and the ultimate version of a SSB for most people, but especially female or smaller lifters. Comfortable, maneuverable, and exceptionally functional. Consider its weight capacity, because it’s enough for you, this is a much better version of the bar than its 65lb brother.

The size and weight of this bar makes it much easier to store and move around the gym. The normal bar is a bit ridiculous how inconvenient it can be. On the flip side of that this has a weight capacity that could be an issue for some. I would prefer to deal with the storage problem and not have to worry about outgrowing the bar.
