I got this when I was looking for a cheap option to add weight to my ruck bag. At the time of purchase I had been using an old backpack but knew I would eventually upgrade to a GoRuck Rucker 4.0 so I wanted one that would work when I made the upgrade.
At the time of purchase a 45lb Signature Fitness cast iron ruck plate was going for about $53, compared to the $125 for a GoRuck Long plate.
I figured it was worth a shot, and if it didn’t work when I upgraded, it was relatively cheap.
I got it in, one side is a little “ugly” compared to the other side but in general it isn’t bad. It weighed 45lbs so it was pretty accurate.
The fit and finish is pretty “plane” but the edges are rounded. It is a little tight in the Large pocket of the Rucker 4.0 large pocket, but works perfectly!
It is a great alternative to the GoRuck brand Long 45 ruck plate. 45lbs is 45lbs and since it is going to be sealed up in the Plate pocket of my Rucker you don’t even see it, so how it looks doesn’t even matter. I’m not sure how it would hold up if you tossed it around in the bag since it’s not ductile iron, like the GoRucks. Either way, the price is good and you can basically buy two for the price of one. So as long as you aren’t being too rough with it. I don’t see it being a problem.
I’ll show the pretty side in the picture lol.
