I was looking to upgrade from my Body Solid GSCL360 Leverage Squat Machine to something that can handle some serious weight. Don't get me wrong, that squat machine is awesome too! It just gets wobbly when you put 5 plates on each side. So,
On to the review- Because this is a serious piece of equipment, it was a M-f-er to assemble by yourself; I highly recommend you ask a friend for help!
This thing is solid AF!!! It took everything I threw at it! I had 8 plates on each side and there wasn't the least bit of flex from it! One common complaint of this style of machines is the lower back pain during the front squat. To fix this, you drive with your heels. The best way to do this is use flat shoes or bare footed and just slightly lift up your big toe. Problem solved! The hack squat is the best I've ever used! It just seems to move with me! I always had to fight against the others I've used in the past. With all that said, there are some minor annoyances; nothing major. The weight horns have a rubber-like coating, so it's not that smooth when changing the weight. And the foot plate needed some traction, so I got some adhesive stair treads for it. Even with those two minor issues, I would definitely buy this again.
