Weight Bench 5000

This was a great bench for the price at the time I purchased. It's been great and worked really well. Main reason I got this bench over other benches was the ability to store this vertically in addition to the other features it had of flagship benches at the time. While newer benches have more features, this one gets the job done and has what I like - many adjustable angles of the main bench and the seat, and basic attachments that I can use. It has never felt unstable for me. I will agree the zero gap feature on this bench is something I don't typically need and tends to get in the way of adjustment rather than help. Newer benches typically solved this problem, but I don't feel like I need to replace this one.

I had this and thought the hype was way overblown. The whole zero gap thing is just not all that important to me but maybe it's a thing with high end lifters but for me, at the house, wasn't something I worried about. Decent value and cheaper then if you went with Rep which this is an obvious rip off of.

The first piece of gear I purchased, at it's launch, a few years ago on amazon before being aware of rep and all the controversy. Bench is solid as a rock. If you understand how to use tighten-able pop-pins you should have no problem putting up weight very comfortably. The front handle is awkward and I hate how easily the end caps come off. Beyond that, controversy aside, I would have recommended this bench. I like the zero gap system, but honestly not what sold me on it. It does make the bench a bit more comfortable than my other bench when having to use the bench in unconventional positions.
