XL™ Series Half Rack

XL™ Series Half Rack

Custom made to fit any scenario, the XL Series rack is the evolution of our original Base Fit rig series. Originally titled “Base Fit XL” as we moved from 2” to 3” steel components, the Base Fit rig was the genesis of the modern day rig with modular pieces that are customizable to fit any space or application. All copies and other 4-way hole racks and rigs are based off this design. Today, the XL Series racks and rigs offer an optimized solution for the demands of modern strength coaches and athletes. High schools, colleges, and home gym owners look to the XL Series racks and rigs for an extremely high return on their investment. Expand or adjust as your program evolves. Custom branding options give you the look of our Base Camp rack series without the cost. Created with the same quality and dedication to innovative training solutions that you have come to expect from Sorinex.

This is a top tier rack with some features that are really appealing. The only downside to this rack is cost. But if you have the money, this is a fantastic piece of equipment. As a company, Sorinex does not cater to the home gym. Their bread and butter is facility outfitting for collegiate and professional athletic programs. Because this is their business model, selling a single rack to a home gym is not cheap. For this reason, I cannot give this rack all 5 stars on the value front. I debated between 3 and 4 and settled on 4 for the reason that this is a one time investment. What this rack is is a rack that will fit right in in a collegiate or professional weight room. A fairly typical layout in that setting is a row of racks or half racks with platforms. In a home gym setting you are looking at one of those. And you can squat, deadlift, bench, overhead press, Olympic lift, etc. safely with as much weight as you want with that arrangement. The XL series half rack is a bit shorter than their base camp series, which will fit into many home gym spaces (do measure first). People of anywhere close to normal height will find the XL series to be tall enough. Downsides aside from cost: No laser cut numbers standard as of 03/2026 (they will add for an upcharge). This is a non-issue for me, but some people want the numbers. Neutral features: Inline holes as opposed to offset holes. This does not matter functionally but it is something to be aware of because once in a blue moon an attachment requires offset holes. Upsides: 47" width. For folks powerlifting with the bars with narrow barbell sleeve collars, this is a really useful feature as most racks are 2" wider and thus 2" more likely to hit your plates as you walk out a squat. Sorinex makes quality equipment. This rack is no exception. From a performance and build quality perspective, I cannot deduct stars. If you have the money and want what this is, get it.
