The curve lets you get a great stretch and feel in your calve better than a step. It could also be a bit taller to give more range.

I got these for smith machine to easily twist the bar without holding on to the bar or reaching back when squatting. It isn’t easily adjustable and gets more in the way than being useful. The price tag doesn’t make it any better.

Heavy duty spotter arms. They just take a lot of space on the rack so harder to stow out the way. Had to swap them out with surplus strength.
