Although these can be pricey, the C2 Rower is a great low impact conditioning tool. The key selling point for me is its high build-quality, low maintenance cost, and C2's industry-leading customer service and support. Moreover, due in no small part to C2's partnership with CrossFit, the Model D Rower (and it's younger sibling, the Row Erg) are virtually ubiquitous and have been the de facto rower in gyms for over a decade, so peer-to-peer support and spare parts on secondary markets are plentiful. I also found out recently that the PM-5 monitor connects via Bluetooth to C2's Erg Data mobile app, so you can track workouts seamlessly. Unlike competitors who charge a subscription fee to log training metrics, C2 offers this benefit at no addition cost, which is a great value add. As an hidden bonus, the sled component from the rower completely detaches from its base, which not only makes it easy to stow away, but enables you to use it in unconvential ways. For example, if you have a low-row pulley system, a belt-squat belt, and a squat wedge, you can McGyver a surprisingly good (though imperfect) leg-press station.

Value is a bit of a struggle for this one. I bought mine used for $300 and it had a PM3, broken shock cord and bad seat rollers. $300 later and EXTREMELY easy replacements, I had a like new machine with a PM5. This is the sort of company we should all strive to support, where they support all the way down to Gen 1 and cheaply. I joke, but also believe, you could build a rower for cheaper on their parts market than new. I briefly owned an Assault Rower but had such a struggle with replacing that shock cord that I sold it. The ecosystem with the PM5 and ergdata is also incredible, just robust and works. Mine has changed my life. While there will always be other factors, such as diet, running Pete Plan Beginner 3-4 days a week I managed to lose 40 pounds and get off of blood pressure medication. This is truly one of the best pieces of equipment for a homegym. I also owned a BikeErg but never clicked with it like I did the rower.

It’s a great machine but I sold it and didn’t look back. It’s my fault. I’m utter shit at rowing and always have issues with my back afterwards. But high resale value, easy to store, incredibly stable.

Shockingly not really sized for SHW powerlifters without a little under support, but we aren’t the ideal demographic. A fun way to burn some calories but real athletes who use for real purposes probably grow a love the with it. Seem to be near bullet proof!

This is the gold standard for rowers. Overall build quality isn't much better than a lot of the clones but the PM5 monitor is what sets this apart. They hold their value really well.

Top quality rower. Build quality and performance are excellent. The only downside for me was storage. I ended up l storing both pieces on wall hooks. The problem was once it got on the wall, it stayed on the wall as it was a pain to take down. I ended up selling it. On the bright side, the resale value was really good.

Great form of cardio. Can store upright or break apart. Needs very little maintenance. Concept2 also sells replacement parts, so if you can get one of these used and enjoy rowing - it's a great buy
