Monster Rhino + INDY Functional Trainer

Monster Rhino + INDY Functional Trainer

The Rhino + INDY Functional Trainer combines the plate-loaded 1:1 lat pulldown and low row with the Rhino Belt Squat, and adds 2:1 independent 300LB weight stacks for the front trolleys. This configuration provides smooth, balanced resistance and fast adjustments, with a total functional resistance feel of 150LB per side. This unit is manufactured in Columbus, Ohio, and features 3x3" arms and crossmembers, a 3x6" weight trolley tower, and a 3/16” US made Mil spec aircraft cable. When not in use, the trolley is stored on a 1" thick UHMW plastic hook, or “Rhino Horn.” A diamond-tread plate platform provides steady footing, adjustable handles offer overhand and neutral grip options, and our exclusive Rogue Multi Belt (included standard) easily accommodates most waist sizes, with adjustments from 41” to 61”.

Setup took about ~16hours building this by myself with 24” depth due to overhead garage motor. Love the cable feel of the Indy stack and the Rhino. Built like a tank to the point that if assembly steps are missed, have fun starting over. The rhino trolley squeaks and even after a lot of adjustments still doesn’t roll equally. Lots of versatility. Belt/cable in certain positions will destroy your thighs and the safety can get really annoying to setup. Low row and lat pull down feel great but with the safety setup can be annoying and installing the low row cable to pulley is sketchy even without weight then because of it limits your ability to superset. Those cons are minor against the biggest, you can’t incline bench in the rack due to the rhino platform. You have to use the front uprights that with the cable trolleys and safety straps is insanely annoying that I ended up buying another rack entirely because of this. Tons of versatility in a compact space but due to the cost the value isn’t there to not have an ability to incline. What this system does do, is fantastic and performs well in an incredibly small space.

I put this on a 30 inch rack, and lift off the front. which frees up some depth. I can still roll my Manta Ray up to the front and do 30 degree incline presses. But. If you have the room, put the indy and rhino on separate racks. The Indy stacks take some of the versatility away from the Rhino. But if you want options in a small space, it doesn't get much better.

I wanted to get the best rack with the most functionality I could find. My square footage is limited. This rack provides everything I wanted. Installation was complex, but everything was shipped in individual boxes and well labeled. Twin 300 lb stacks with 2:1 ratio are sufficient. The lat pulldown works off the Rhino, so it can go heavier. There’s room for the VTS on the middle posts if someone wants to go that route. This setup is pretty expensive compared to some others, but I think you get what you pay for. This will last me the rest of my life.
