I came to this from a Force USA G15 with the Smith attachment, and it isn't close. The G15's guide rods moved and flexed enough to give me an uneasy feeling even well under rated load. The REP unit is solid and doesn't budge. Travel is smooth, adjustment is fast, and the bar knurling is excellent. One thing to know before you buy: rated capacity is 450 lb, but loadable sleeve length is 11.4". Once you account for collar space, that fills up faster than the rating suggests — particularly with bumpers, where plate thickness becomes the limiting factor well before you approach 450. If you're loading thinner iron or urethane plates you'll have plenty of room, but heavy bumper-loaded squats may run out of sleeve rather than capacity. Worth measuring against your own plates before assuming you can reach the rating. An extra couple of inches of sleeve would close the gap. Beyond that, no complaints. REP has said the Smith is the foundation of a broader attachment ecosystem, and I'm eager to see what comes — a vertical leg press integrating with the carriage would be an excellent addition for anyone building a complete setup inside one rack footprint.

Hard to find fault with this Smith - its so smooth and easy to use. I use it for overhead pressing, drag curls, some benching for my girls, who feel safer using it and some RDLs/Bulgarian squats. Love the 32mm bar, nice and thick. I have mine on a 93' PR500 rack set inside so I can use the front for regular barbell work. Love it. Highly reccomend.

This beats any other smith machine I’ve used. I wish they would offer a normal sized barbell with it because it feels weird when doing RDLs or rows. Only other issue is it requires wanting a smith and after a while I decided I still just prefer a normal barbell so sold it

Buttery smooth, more range of motion than the majority of other smith machines on the market. You can adjust it pretty easily to be angled as well. Overall this is a top tier rack attached smith machine

The REP Smith Machine has been a great addition to my PR-5000 rack. It is super smooth, very well built, and more versatile than I expected, especially since I had not really been a big Smith machine guy before. Installation was easy for one person. My main downside is that I wish it had more safety stop positions, and I am looking forward to REP releasing more attachments that work inside the PR-5000 rack.

I just installed this yesterday, then did a full leg day using smith for squats, RDLs, and front foot elevated split squats. I took a chance on this piece because I hadn’t used a smith for years and wasn’t sure how I’d like it. Well, not only was it an easy, solo install, it is the rack attachment I didn’t know I needed. The extra stability is super useful for dealing with my low back injuries and unilateral movements like lunge variations. I can see why this is the top rated rack attached smith. REP knocked it out of the park with this one! Highly recommend. Edit: I have to knock off a little because the built in spotters do not have enough positions to safely spot Incline bench with the nighthawk bench. This is disappointing. Currently working on a solution and seeing what customer service says about it. Edit 2: still loving this attachment, I got smith spotter shims made by Carbon strength and solved my issue. Been loving this for split squats, 15 degree incline bench, and RDLs lately.

I’ve tried the Fringe Sport Bob and the Bells of Steel smith. Neither comes close to this one in anything. Quality, build, smoothness, and performance. You can do so many things with this, it’s been such a great addition to my gym.

Have had this installed on my PR 5000 for a couple weeks now, absolutely love it. Very sturdy, very smooth and has not disappointed. Mainly use it for Incline and flat bench when I am not using dumbbells. Have also used it for shoulder press, SLDL and wife has used it for deadlifts off a raised platform. Previously had the Bulletproof VTS but this is way better in my opinion. Added benefit is now my daughters can use it as well, the VTS starting weight was too heavy. I am a big REP fan so I was hoping this would be great, and it is!

Amazing smith machine. It is incredibly well built and smooth, and feels great to use, Only complaint is the knurling on the black diamond bar is far more passive then their actual black diamond power bar. Not the end of the world, it is a smith bar and still feels better then most, but a bit disappointing.
