Texas 2" Fat Axle Power Bar

Texas 2" Fat Axle Power Bar

The Texas 2" Fat Axle Power Bar takes everything lifters dislike about traditional axle bars — low-quality steel pipe, fixed sleeves, and weak, unknurled grip — and puts an end to it. One of the only axle bars in the industry built on a true power-bar platform, it features full knurling and fully rotating sleeves to deliver real power-bar performance while adding all the benefits of a thick grip: more versatility, greater muscle activation, and grip strength you can feel from rep one. Reinventing the Fat Axle Bar for all lifters — the Texas Power Bars way.

That Fat Axle bar is an excellent bar to have in the rotation. The knurling on the cerakote version is perfect for solid grip through extended use and it's a joy to use. I'm not doing any strongman stuff, but I've really enjoyed using it for wrist curls, as well as adding an extra grip challenge to incline bench pressing and something about the way using it forces lat and core engagement when doing back extensions feels fantastic. I've tried it for deadlifting and it was OK, but the fully knurled bar is pretty rough on the chins (and obviously its very hard to hold with heavy weight). If they make a version without the center knurl my dumb ass will probably buy that, too - I've liked it so much.

The Texas 2" Fat Axle Power Bar has excellent knurling and is grippy without being harsh. I love the 2" diameter, and it feels awesome in the hands and feels/works exactly like you’d expect. With that being said, the bar has poor sleeve tolerances with some play and very poor spin (objectively worse than my inexpensive Titan Fat Curl Bar). Now this may be a pro or con depending on the person, but just something to note is the aggressive sleeve ribbing. In addition, this bar seems to suffer from some quality‑control misses. I didn't have the set screw issue, however, mine arrived with metal shavings still inside the collars and a chip in the Cerakote. Which honestly shouldn’t happen at this price point. Finally, while I can understand the charge for shipping ($69 to me), they offer minimal shipping protection — despite the solid tube, there’s no foam, no rubber endcaps, no plastic wrap, unlike from companies such as REP Fitness which go above and beyond to protect their more expensive bars.

I love this 2 inch fat axle power bar. It really feels like a fat power bar with great and Erling standard barbell sleeves. It’s just a joy to train with mine is the blue version. The only thing would make it better if I knew it was in red or black, but they have other colours for everyone depending on what your favourite colour is. I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a high quality knurled axle bar. It’s on My Gym Radar and should be on yours as well.

I'm sure it's great quality coming from texas, but if you are buying this to use as an axle bar to train for strongman that would be a mistake. Getting use to a bar with rotating sleeves and kurling will not transfer well to a normal axle bar. Using it for reasons other then strongman specific goals I'm sure it's amazing

Great bar from a great company. Always happy with the knurling on these bars. Only complaint would be that the set screws they use stick out past the sleeve, requiring me to grind it down so my bumpers fit. I had to do the same thing at work. Great bars that hold up to a ton of abuse

Amazing bar. The days of the cheapo axle bar are over now that this bad boy is on the market. That being said, don't expect to see it in competition much due to the price. I use mine a lot around comp event training since I know I am more likely to see Titan axles, etc. Nonetheless, if you get your hands on a TPB Axle, you will know there is a better world, somewhere, out there...

This thing is awesome, but fits in a weird category. Is it an axle? Is it a powerbar? The answer is yes, it’s a friggin power axle! I enjoy “guessing” hand placement when walking up to a normal axle, and this has the ring markings on it, so takes out the guess work for general training purposes. The knurling doesn’t feel as aggressive in the hand due to diameter probably, but still eats shins for breakfast because it’s fully knurled. Mine is in red cerakote and is the sexiest bar in the gym. It’s priced pretty high, but my wife doesn’t know that.
