York Barbell Deep Dish Vintage Weight Plates

York Barbell Deep Dish Vintage Weight Plates

The “modern” York deep-dish plates are among the most iconic and enduring designs in weightlifting history. As the final evolution of York’s earlier designs, they were produced for several decades with rounded edges and a hub-and-spoke design that balanced form and function. The 35 lb plates evolved from older designs, featuring slightly larger letters, with early versions having the “35” facing the hub and later versions facing outward. The smaller plates in this series followed earlier designs but were also marked with their weight.

York Deep Dish make the world go round. These are an awesome piece of vintage iron history and awesome to have in your gym. They are definitely more expensive so you have to really want them. I use everything in my gym and these are no exception. I am more careful with them and never deadlift with them. They can crack and the hubs can break so you have to be careful. They are not always super accurate so if you want accurate vintage plates dont be surprised if they aren't. They are very expensive in the $1,000+ range, but if you look hard enough you can find deals sometimes. Kind of over hyped price wise IMO. But still cool pieces. I have 1 marked pair and 3 unmakred pairs.

I still need to find a match and would love to have multiple sets of these plates. They’re timeless, accurate, have a wonderful sound and look to them. Plan to give this one an acid bath and refurbish it. Even with a crack I still love this plate. Definitely worth it to own if you love old iron.

Iconic. They are so many people's favorite plates and for good reason. But you'll pay these days for them, for sure.

The iconic CLANG when you press two of these together on a barbell is a more powerful stimulant than the under-the-counter 1990s pre-workout samplers you got from that shady dude at GNC. These are the real deal, scientifically proven to make your lifts doubly effective and stimulate hypertrophy at twice the rate of rubber bumper plates. Trust me, it's proven science. If you have any interest at all in vintage plates, you absolutely can't go wrong by starting with a pair of these. Be warned, however, that they are in high demand, so a pair of unmarked (no visible weight denomination) 45s is going to cost you in the range of $1000-1200 or more, even in pretty beat up rusty condition, while a pair of marked 45s (the weight of the plates is present under the YORK letters) will run in the ballpark of $2500 if in excellent condition.

My first REAL deep dish 45s. Such a timeless look that I wouldn’t mind collecting multiples of. Would love to get my hands on a pair of marked 45s in the future.

Possibly the coolest looking plates ever made. It’s all about the history with these bad boys. Glad I was able to score a pair of marked 45s.
