York Spinlock Vintage Collars

These vintage York collars are often mistaken for "shipwheels", but these actually came after those.

These collars are very sturdy and heavy duty. They are not the quickest collars to get on and off. They adjust at a decent speed. They definitely can help add some weight to your lifts. They are a lot more comman than people think and can sometimes can bring crazy prices for reasons that dont make sense to me.

York spinlock collars are a great way to add vintage character when lifting with vintage plates. They are heavy, sturdy, easy enough to find, and still practical to use. This specific set came from Joe’s Gym in Erie, PA, which adds to the story for me.

Had these at club fitness in CT. Really cool but didn't use them much because they were a pain to handle and put on and off and had to adjust them after each set

They are technically vintage and are considered collectible, but they are quite common so the prices are not bad at all. A decent pair typically goes for around $100. They are heavy and very sturdy. Unlike the shipwheel collars that seem to snap a hub off if you look at them sideways, these bastards could get left in San Quinton for 5 years and would emerge looking deadly and ripped, with two new bachelors degrees and a tear drop tattoo.

They are defiantly very cool to own. A must have if you like vintage York stuff. Sometimes it's just easier to use a newer collar. I have both LBS and KG versions.

Vintage York spin locks look cool but personally I never liked using them. I always felt they were too cumbersome for me and to much work. Ease of use 6, cool factor 9 Owned several pairs over the years from Building out my milled York collection.
