The collectibility comes from how easily they break. Cool design but def not daily drivers.

These are a nightmare to use. However, they are pretty to look at. These are more of a talking point than a tool to use in my gym. I found this pair at a garage sale next door and the guy didn't know what he had so he sold them to me for a dollar fifty. Understanding the value of these collars, I probably won't ever sell these or trade them for something that actually performs well. They just sit on a shelf in my gym looking all nice and pretty. Outside of pure aesthetics and history, these collars suck.

These are highly desirable collectible collars from York. There were multiple generations made between the 1930s and 1950s, possibly into the 60s. Each generation has slight differences in hub shape and length, cylinder height, and the size or configuration of the wing nuts. The Iron Guide has good illustrative images and descriptions for each version. These tend to be quite pricey for an intact pair in decent shape, typically at least $1000 if functional and clean; so if you see some at a garage sale, don't pass them up!

These are extremely collectible and rare. I have had a couple pairs in my possession over the years but they each had a missing nub or 2 on them. Very rare to find a pair where nothing is broken. Price is outrageous on these max. These pre date the much more common to find spin locks.
