Like anyone of us who has lifted for decades, they have taken on a patina of strength well. They have been beaten, chipped and marred as they moved through life, 1 rep at a time. Look too close and they reveal their scars, but take a step back and understand what they, like old lifters, have been through, and they remain solid, resilient and are now forged by strength. They remain a favourite metaphor and symbol of strength within the gym, remind me often why I workout and they will be with me for as long as I’m able to lift them. Iron master indeed.
