The Prime Plate Loaded Incline Press is easily one of my favorite pieces of equipment in my entire home gym and absolutely deserves 5 stars. The movement feels incredibly smooth, natural, and stable, and I can train my chest extremely hard without the shoulder irritation I sometimes get from traditional incline barbell or dumbbell pressing.
What really separates this machine from almost everything else is the ability to manipulate the resistance profile using the different weight horns. Being able to make the movement harder at the bottom, middle, or top gives you an incredible amount of control over how the exercise feels. I personally love loading it to emphasize the stretched position and make the beginning of the press more difficult.
The stretch and convergence on this machine are phenomenal. You get an excellent deep stretch at the bottom while the arms converge naturally throughout the press, which gives the movement an incredible feel from start to finish.
The independent arms are fantastic for training each side evenly, the handles feel great, and the seat and back adjustments make it easy to get into a comfortable pressing position. Once you get everything dialed in, you can simply sit down and focus on pushing hard.
The versatility is also about to get even better. With Prime's upcoming Combo Bench setup, this machine will soon be able to handle both flat and incline pressing. That makes the versatility you get for the footprint even more impressive and helps justify dedicating space to a premium plate loaded machine like this in a home gym.
It is definitely a premium machine with a premium price, but the build quality, adjustability, resistance profile options, phenomenal stretch and convergence, and expanding versatility make it feel like a true end game chest press.
If I could only keep one dedicated chest press in my gym, this would be extremely difficult to give up. Prime absolutely nailed this machine.
