Surprisingly smooth for a lat pulldown with square tubing. Since its plate loaded you need to keep both sides balanced with the same weight or it will stick. Its fairly inexpensive too. The downfall of the this lat pulldown is that it really sticks out the back far compared to other companies rack attached lat pulldowns. They solved this with Ares but this version added almost 2' to the rack.

I picked this up for $40 a few years back. No idea how many times its been bought/sold but the guy I bought it from also bought used. It works just as well as it did in the early 80s. At some point it was spray painted black. The control box doesn't work at all, but I use my watch/phone for HR, Time, and Calories anyway as its more accurate. Overall these are great bikes and well worth the little you pay for them. I've used many good fan bikes too like Rogue Echo and while those are smoother and have digital displays, workout you get from them is exactly the same.

These are fine collars for things like a lat pulldown or machine where you are just trying to keep the weights in place and there's no gravity pulling the the plates. But for a barbell or dumbbells, these are terrible because they will slowly slide causing movement in the plates during the exercise. Overall these aren't used anymore, they are old school and were popular in the 90s when we didn't have nice collars like we do today.

These are one of those attachments I thought I needed. I do think these type of attachments help with wrist/elbow pain and for that I like them. For two handed lat pulldowns, I much prefer using a single bar attachment like the medium mag/blusm grip vs these. I do not like these for rows at all. Where I did find I like them is single handed lat pulldowns. Worth buying because they are cheap but not worth the price of the premium versions imo.
