For performance, I think the answer is, it depends. I have a REP Apollo half rack and the issue with this pull-up bar is that it basically consumes the entire top of the rack, leaving no space for on-rack bar storage. I wound up replacing it with a simple 1.25" pull-up bar and really appreciated getting the space back. Neutral grip aside, this bar is also a few inches higher off the ground than the standard bar. What I found after taking it off is that this bar blocks out a substantial amount of light as well, the visibility is better with the less obtrusive bar. Unless you need something really specific about it, I'd just go with the 1.25" bar, it gets the job done. I gave it good marks for value and build quality, it's not much more expensive than the simplest bar and I can only assume it will survive forever. It's sturdy.
