BlackWing™ Adjustable Bench

I loved the idea of this bench and it was my first expensive bench. The zero gap sounded cool but ended up being a huge pain. It not only is hard to use, it makes the bench super heavy; moving this bench was a rep in itself. No advantage to being almost 200lbs. Was sturdy tho! I have a nighthawk which is half the weight and works just as well. Both use the attachments

Yeah… it’s a bench. But apparently REP decided a bench also needed to qualify as structural support for a small building. This thing is badass. Heavy as shit, zero wobble, great padding, easy adjustments, and the ZeroGap is a nice feature I actually use. I swear I put this thing basically FULL VERTICAL, locked my legs in, and started doing full vertical sit-ups like an absolute idiot just to see what would happen. Nothing happened. The bench didn’t wobble. Didn’t shift. Didn’t even seem remotely concerned about what I was doing. Wtf. And people complain that it’s heavy? My brother in Christ, THAT'S WHY IT DOESN'T MOVE. You bought a massive steel adjustable bench, not a folding chair from a church basement. You lie on it. It doesn’t move. You go vertical. It still doesn’t move. 5 stars. At this point I’m fairly certain my house would fail structurally before the BlackWing does.

Terrific bench with great build quality and adjustability. I don't find it overly difficult to move around and like that it is heavy as the bench will not move at all with certain movements.

Heavy and heavy duty, a lot of adjustable points. This is the best FID bench I've had so far. Like the clear coat finish.

In the clear coat finish, this is aesthetically the best looking bench on the market. The bench is heavy, but it doesn't bother me as it makes me feel like the bench is super stable. My kids are often in the gym with me, climbing and jumping off the bench, so it gives me peace of mind knowing this bench isnt going to accidentally tip over on them. Vinyl has excellent grippy feeling to it, but it does make it harder to clean. Not a bench I tell everyone to splurge on, but I'm stoked to have it and very excited to add the Rep x Dialed Motion Leg Developer attachment later this year. If Rep continues to build out the ecosystem around their benches, the BlackWing is gonna be tough to beat.

Great bench. Love that I can decline without foot roller and plenty of adjustments. It is heavy, but not really a problem for me, and I actually love the zero gap feature. Pad is grippy. Great bench if you only have the space for 1.

I love this bench and in my opinion it is the best bench on the market. The vinyl is perfect, it is the most stable bench I have ever used, including commercial pieces. It has a ton of adjustments, so you can dial it in, however you want. Yes, it is heavy. That is the point. It is meant to be stable during heavy use and we are here to lift not complain about heavy things. It is the equivalent to picking up a 60 pound dumbbell off the front which is frankly just not that big a deal. However, if you want a lightweight bench, this is not for you. I like the zero gap feature and the ability to dial it in for any level of incline, but it is true that it is an extra adjustment point. I find that you get used to it very quick and it is certainly not an essential, but I do like having it so the bench can be a true gapless flat bench in addition to an inclined bench. Finally, the clear grind on this bench is just beautiful. Zero regrets, would buy again.

Great bench, very solid. I have no regrets with this purchase and the weight doesn't bother me. It hasn't been overly difficult for me to move around at all, but I could see how it would be bothersome for some. I only dinged the value because with the nighthawk out now it would be a tough choice between those 2 if I was buying now and I'm not sure this is ~$150 better than the nighthawk (I haven't used that one though).

Performance wise, I have no issues with this bench. It feels solid, is easy to change angles, and always feels "locked in" during use. The seat pad can wiggle a little, but typically only when adjusting it or moving it with no weight on it. Also, once you use the bench enough, you completely get used to the "extra" step of the pop-pin adjustment when you need to move the seat down, or pulling the other know when you need to move the seat in and out to change the seat angle. It could be faster if the seat used a ladder system as well, but at the time I got it, I didn't think it was worth giving up the attachment port. The Nighthawk from Rep is also a great option with the best of most things, but the fit and finish isn't quite as good I think. And if you're tall like me, I appreciate the extra pad length you get with the Blackwing. Value is good too, especially when you compare to American made options. I know the attachment eco-system is pretty much as basic as it gets, but I'm mostly here for the core lifts anyway. Though I am looking forward to that Dialed Motion collab cable driven leg developer. For build quality, It is built like a tank, and heavy like one too, but who cares when you're strong (or relative to sedentary folks anyway).
