HAMMER STRENGTH PLATE-LOADED SEATED/STANDING SHRUG is a great and versatile piece of equipment which allows you to do standing or seated shrugs.

It does what it's made for with some versatility if you’re open minded (farmers carry in one spot if you try hard enough). Not really worth it at home unless you have the budget, space, and huge love of shrugs.

I had an early version for several years that was a seated shrug then you flip the handles to turn into a row. Both movements were good but I thought the shrug was the better movement especially when doing burn outs with both handles. I’d even stack some bummers and do RDLs with shrug handles when I didn’t want to load a bar. HS build quality is always spot on and the weight horns were long to load up the movements. Like most HS PL machines they take up a lot of real estate for a home gym and can be costly. If you can find the dual movement machine then maybe it’s worth it.

It’s a really solid piece and a great addition to the end of a workout to really burn in. Not a home gym piece without space. I have a Promaxima deadlift platform that we would use for shrugs off high handles, or set an Elite FTS box into for low handles or seated DL variation. Poor man’s version but got it accomplished!

Heavy duty commercial piece, I used one many times in commercial gyms to really burn out the traps. not something I could recommend for a home gym but an essential piece for a public gym.

This thing has had many great uses for me. You can target the front of the traps by arching your back slightly and keeping your shoulders back while shrugging, you can hit the rear traps by slouching forward, and you can also stand bent over facing the machine and out your forehead on the top of the pad for head supported rows. All around great machine
