Able to find this old trotter counter balance smith on marketplace for a fraction of what the new rack attachments/stand alone units cost. It was dissembled when I picked it up and was fairly easy to assemble myself but would recommend having a second set of hands. built like a tank and the linear bearings still glide smoothly. Just like other smith machines the bottom range of motion is limited by the spotter arm and spring but hopping on a short plyo box solves this issue. Can do numerous moments and the convenience of just throwing weights on has been awesome. Definitely a piece of equipment I’ve missed and would highly recommend.

being from the 80-90s they are still super smooth. Have a good amount of adjustments depending on your mobility. bomb proof and the high handles are actually a nice touch to keep you in place. Lengthwise they take up real estate and are single movement machines but will be a nice addition. Would definitely recommend if you can find for a good price.

Like others have said, it’s an awkward bar to move/store. It’s a solid bar and keeps me honest with my bar path so I keep it around. I picked this up used and couldn’t imagine paying the current retail or even sale price for this. If you can find a good deal on the used market that’s the route to go. Could be just me but I haven’t figured out a way to set up spotters arms with this bar. Something to consider if you have a similar set up

All the good and specialty bars were locked up at the gym I was going to so i picked this up and would bring my own. It was my first equipment purchase and going on 11 years old. I’m always happy to give my money to the team at Texas Power Bar.
