Midas Open Trap Bar
The Open Trap bar is arguably one of the most underrated specialty bars out there. The open trap design allows for deadlifts, lunges, bent over rows, shrugs, and farmers carry, making it highly versatile. When it comes to getting the most bang for you buck with a single piece of equipment, the Midas open trap bar takes the crown.

Recently received the V3 open trap bar. Initially after purchasing a pre-order did not realize that the specs had changed. Bolt on handles instead of weld (mega negative), longer sleeves (mostly positive), slightly higher weight (55lb). The assembly was annoying and sketchy. Three bolts hold the very heavy sleeve on and the narrow gap to feed the sleeve onto the bolts while holding a heavy awkward bar made the assembly unnecessarily. These bolts I've also had issues of bending for the safeties of the Fringe Bob. The biggest issue after build is that the jacks literally do not work. Due to slop tolerances between the bar and the sleeve, when installing bumper plates the jacks do not contact the ground so loading and unloading is like a regular barbell but due to the shape of the trap bar and it being extremely unbalance coupled with spinning sleeves, the bar will rotate and guillotine on its own loading plates. I tried multiple locations all over my floor, found a completely level area and could not load plates with the jack. Looking back at Fringe's site you can actually see the jacks are not in complete contact to the floor either. Extremely disappointed with this version that folks should be aware of and avoid until another version as this size and build quality should be cheaper than other trap options but is sadly in the ballpark on price as well and in my mind, doesn't work as advertised......also the knurl only exists on the high handle and is extremely passive.

Fringe Sport Midas Open Trap Bar is a great bar and i love that this bar does all the things that I need it to do and does not take up a ton of space.

It’s small, looks good, and is solid. And the price is great. Glad I got one!!

This is a very nice compact open trap bar that excels at saving space and aiding in ease of plate loading. Other things like deadlifts, Farmers carries and shrugs are all easy and safe with this bar. My 15 year old son uses this bar 2 times weekly. Sleeves are nice and quality is on par with price paid during a sale in 2024. Also the handle position is lacking any kind of sufficient Knurl but not really needed for this type of of bar IMHO. Start weight is 47 pounds.

Compact open trap bar for smaller spaces. Knurling is a bit light, handles are a bit small, balance is a bit off. Overall it does the job with just a few deficiencies however is one of the best choices in the category.

Update- I noticed another reviewer mention an updated version of this bar. They have indeed changed a lot- specifically they are now selling a larger version. Everything i said below applies to the smaller version which is 45 pounds, 59 inches long with 9.5 inch sleeves.
The appeal of this bar is specifically its size- the overall length and sleeves are shorter than a full size trap bar, which makes it less annoying to store and maneuver in a tight space. Obviously the sleeves won't fit massive amounts of weight, so this is better for higher rep accessory movements rather than maxing out your trap deadlift (as important as that is). Build quality is fine, although my preference would have been slightly thicker handles. For anyone working in tight spaces this can be a helpful bar.
