They do the job, allowing 2.5 lbs weight increments. Two main thoughts:
1. At least for me, these were pretty much a mandatory upgrade since having DBs that jump only in 10s was never going to work for a lot of smaller exercises. Feels like they're crucial enough that they should have been part of the base package.
2. I find them fiddly to attach to the DBs, it always takes me a couple of seconds of sliding them around on the DB until I hit the holes and hear them "click" into place. Feels to me like making the receiving holes for the magnets a fraction bigger and tapered so that the plates find them easier would be an easy win.

For old guys like me these provide a nice incremental path. The plates themselves are nice and solid, don't get in the way, easy on and off. When in use, they really become part of the dumbbell structurally. The cradle they live in doesn't seem as robust.

I would definitely recommend adding these if you buy these dumbbells - I have the 2.5 pound set & they’re very easy to take on & off. The magnets hold extremely well & I don’t have any concerns of them getting knocked loose while using the dumbbells. They come with a small cradle to store off the front or back of the dumbbells. Allows me to have increments of 5 pounds (2.5 lbs if you just use one of the two micro plates).

I feel that these are a well needed add-on with this dumbbell only having 10 pound increments. I have both the 1.25lb set as well as the 2.5lb set, allowing for 2.5lb and 5 lb jumps, which offers great value functionally. Also, these let me have a total of 105lbs with my MX EVO 100 DBs. I would have really liked for these to be included in the price though, hence they get docked on the dollar portion of the “value”.
