Stealth Spotters

These take up very little vertical space, they can be set lower than standard spotters, they fit a bit loose on the PR 5000 rack but not excessively, the shim kit sold by surplus strength isn’t very good. I am still researching other options on that front. The only spotters I’d even consider replacing these with are those new mythical ones with the 1” adjustments.

I needed these due to space constraints and my own personal aesthetics. They work, they were the first of their kind and are American made. I’m certain these would never fail on a lift. If you have extra space around the rack or storage area, regular spotters will do. I was contemplating these vs the oak club spotters but the tariff situation nixed that idea. These are a great option if it fits your needs but will carry a premium over the regular ones.

If you’re looking for low-profile spotter arms, these Stealth Spotters probably have the most compact vertical spacing of any I’ve tried. They’re heavy-duty and feel very solid. The build quality is strong, but the fit and finish isn’t quite as clean or polished as what you get from REP or Rogue. They’re also quite heavy, and they’re longer than some other options — which I actually like for my setup. The best feature for me is how they mount. You can attach leg rollers directly to them for lat pull-downs without the whole arm trying to roll or shift like it does on the REP versions. That alone makes them stand out. They’re extremely expensive, but overall these are a very nice, well-thought-out product. If low-profile spotters with solid mounting versatility are what you need, these deliver.

So this is more a critique of my experience with purchasing this product and also what I received even after they made it right. So there’s a super long lead time for Surplus Strength, and that’s fine and all because they state it prior to purchase. After waiting that long lead time, you expect it to be a usable product prior to them shipping it to you, right? I mean QC has to at least use a piece of 3x3 upright to make sure fitment isn’t an issue, right? Well I received it and it was beat up with powdercoating flaking off and that’s fine because I’m going to beat it up lifting but the right arm can’t even go on my rack because the pin was too canted. So I contacted them and then it took an additional 2 and a half weeks for me to get my replacement arm. The one I got was also flaking but hey, it’s now going to fit on my rack. It did work and now I have two usable spotter arms. For the price you pay and the long lead times, you just expect a more polished product. But it’s not to say I don’t like these because they are the OG smaller spotter arms and they work really well.

These spotters arms are much lighter than the Rogue Monster spotter arms and take up much less room. They only take up 3 hole spaces. Makes them easier to store by hanging from above or below on an crossmember. You use a pin to secure from behind the upright. This doesn’t work in my set up as I can’t fit a pin between upright and weight stack. I’m not too worried about it. Feels secure as is. They’re great spotter arms but quite expensive for what they are.
