Great barbell. It's what I have in my gym, since most local powerlifting competitions use this barbell for bench. I use mine just for bench and rows. There's bars that are a bit better finish wise; however, they aren't massive upgrades to this classic barbell

If my gym caught on fire this is one of the only pieces besides my vintage stuff I would run in to save! The undisputed pound for pound best and most used barbell in my gym. Love the knurling and overall feel of the bar. Lifted with these in previous gyms so I knew it had to be in my gym if I was gonna get stronger!

Aggressive knurling, great for deadlifts and BB rows, gives you a great grip for pulls, have also bench pressed with it, works good, good all around bar.

Yes, it's an iconic bar. Yes, the knurl makes me feel like a real man. Yes, the thicc sleeves and roll-pins are unique.
But honestly, the tolerances, rattling, minimal spin, and STICKERS FOR END-CAPS really do prove that it's just been eclipsed by modern barbells for the same price point. The black zinc scratches easily, and it doesn't come in stainless steel.

Great bar with knurling so aggressive that it scares away my wife's gentle hands

Love my Texas Power Bar! Knurling is super grippy and the bar feels solid with a heavy load.

This is my undisputed daily driver. The knurling is perfect. The durability is perfect. The finishes are amazing and you got to love Buddy Capps. Despite owning a variety of Olympic bars from several vendors, I always come back to this. It is a must buy!

I bought my Texas Power Bar used about a month ago (4/30/2026). It came from a small high school weight room. The reseller I bought it from was told it was over 8 years old, though I honestly don’t think it was used very much. The black zinc coating is still fully intact, the knurling still feels great (and is also all intact), and the spin is still smooth (though I did add a few drops of 3-in-One oil to the bushings).
I appreciate the modest character it’s developed over the years. Sometimes older bars just have a feel that newer ones can’t replicate. It feels more like a “broken-in” barbell than a “used” one.
Overall, this bar has that solid, robust feel you want from a true power bar. You can tell it was built to last. After owning and using it, I completely understand why everyone who owns a Texas Power Bar seems to love them. It has a distinct feel that just grabs you (and it’s not just the knurling).
I love using it with my vintage York milled weight set!

My all time favorite power bar. I was fortunate enough to have access to a variety of top notch equipment at my last gym, and as far as barbells go, the TPB was my favorite. I don't have one in my home gym yet, but it's on my wishlist

Best bar by far! Aggressive knurling and limited flex. Very versatile bar.
