At some point I needed to make the tough decision between York Roundheads and York Buns. Most of the Buns didn't fit well in my racks ... so I sold them. But I kept a pair of Globe 50s and 55s. They have a great old school feel. Weight is NOT accurate in my experience but the casting flaws allowed me to lift my 50 by the Globe, so I don't mind them so much ... hahaha

These globes are one of a kind. I love using them. Makes me feel like popeye.

How is this not a 5 star product. Just touching these makes you feel like this is bigger than you. I am just borrowing these bad boys until it’s someone else’s turn. Hopefully my kids will keep these in the family and pass them on. If not, hope they go to someone who will appreciate them as I do.

Collectors love the buns and globes. They are a connection to the bygone Silver Age of physique culture. They are still a ton of fun to push around today, but for most owners they are show pieces more than daily drivers. The 50s and 60s can be obtained for a few hundred bucks per pair but if you start seeking the 5 lb increments, they get really pricey. Not worth the investment unless you're dedicated to the idea of building a complete set. Nonetheless, they will hold their value over the years, due to the rich history... so at least you can count on them being worth something in the future, unlike all that money being taken out of your paycheck to float the Social Security ponzi scheme.

Nice piece of history to add to the gym. The grandfather of York dumbbells. I have a problem and started a collection of buns and globes. I need help.

Love these old 40's-60's era bun York dumbbells. They are a great piece to just have in gym to show off.

The bratty little sister of Roundheads. Rich old dudes have full sets. One day I’ll be rich and old.

York Barbell Vintage Buns & Globes
Buns and Globs are the dumbbells that pre-date York Roundheads. The buns are the lighter ones up to 45 and the globes go 50-100 if I recall.
I owned a pair of 55s for a couple years. They are a cool novelty dumbbell but not what I would want as my daily driver.
