About the Gym
My ultimate garage sanctuary: maximizing every square foot to stay strong, fight back, and prove that life is for lifting. đĄď¸ More Than a Gym: My Sanctuary & Lifeline! I have been recreational strength training with a heavy focus on hypertrophy for 30 years. Lifting is quite literally what I do. In 2024, my world was upended when I was diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I immediately entered a two-year immunotherapy trial to save my life. Throughout that intense battle, building this gym became my sanctuary. It kept me physically strong, built up my immune system, and helped me win the fight. Today, this space stands as a testament to resilience. đ The Build: Maximum Efficiency & Zero Friction. This is my second home gym build, the first in a garage, I had a shed gym before that and I took my time to perfect it. The goal was to maximise every square foot of the footprint with maximum functionality. I chose multi-purpose equipment to minimise setup friction between exercises while leaving plenty of usable space between stations. By utilising attachment storage, all attachments are off the floor and right next to the machine where they belong. The layout is so efficient that I still have plenty of room for a dedicated cardio side - and I can still park my car inside! đď¸ââď¸ The Equipment: 3 Machines, Endless Options! I consolidated my strength training down to just three highly versatile pieces that offer 100% functionality: Ironmaster Super Benches: Handles FID (Flat, Incline, Decline), leg curl/extension, preacher curl, overhead press, hyperextension, and crunches. IM 3000 Valhalla: Combines a half rack, Smith machine, 2:1 functional trainer/cable cross, belt squat, pull-up bar, 1:1 low row/lat pulldown, and plate storage. BodyCraft Hip Sled: A space-saving combo unit for leg presses, hack squats, and donkey calf raises.
