I bought this back in 2022 for about $700. I am 6ft tall and I can *almost* get a full stretch at the top while seated. The adaptability of using both standard 1" plates and Olympic 2" plates are a big benefit of this machine. The pulleys are decently smooth if tracking well and if both sides are loaded equally. When doing a standard lat pulldown, I was able to use upwards of 205lb without too many issues. The weight carriage/horns is 25lb with the olympic sized sleeves attached. It functions as intended and was not that difficult to assemble. If you are lifting more than about 40lb from the low pulley straight up (curls) and you are not standing on the foot platform, the whole machine will tip backwards. I fixed this by placing a dumbbell in the hooks at the top temporarily, as I prefer not to have the foot plate attached. The pulleys do not stay tracked in the centers of their housings, and will rub against the housing if you are not pulling on-center. The piece of metal connecting the seat to the main assembly is also quite loose even with 2 tight bolts, but it is only a minor sound annoyance.

There are not many options when it comes to functional trainers that fit in a basement with 82in tall ceilings, especially budget ones. The FTX has been great for me. Smooth pulleys, good build quality, and low price. All of my biggest complaints are easily remedied. Firstly, the weight stacks are not very heavy, but a gym pin has worked great with this so far. Secondly, the included carabiners are low quality, but I quickly replaced them with better ones purchased from amazon. Lastly, as others have stated, the labels for the weight plates are not pounds, just arbitrary numbers. I solved this by not using them. Instead, I wrote the weight on each plate with a white chalk marker. It starts at 7.5lb and increases by 5lb with each plate.

I love this product. I am very limited on space and ceiling height, this is by far the best barbell storage option for me. I don't have to try to carefully move a barbell in and out of my rack, trying not to hit anything or the ceiling, because the bar is already in my rack!

This machine is usable at best for chest flies, after a small modification. It has a fatal flaw - the pivot point for the arms of the machine are behind where your shoulders are going to be during the movement. Because of this, the machine's arms feel fine at the sides (beginning of a fly), but as you converge, the machine's arms get shorter. I am 6ft tall with an above average wingspan, the arms are too short and force me to bend my elbow at the end of the chest fly movement. That being said, I removed the handles and put foam over the top so that my forearm can rest where you would normally grab with your hand. That has made it usable for chest flies. Rear delt flies are a different story. This is unusable for that movement and it shouldn't be advertised as being a rear delt machine. There is virtually no range of motion, it's essentially a quarter-rep. The arms don't get close enough together. On most other pec deck machines, you can alleviate that by sitting to the side, doing one arm at a time, and sweeping out in 180 degree arc. Due to the pivot arm position mentioned earlier, that doesn't work. You get what you pay for I guess. I'll continue to use it as a chest fly machine with my make shift forearm padding.
