Sometimes it's fun to just pick up some heavy rocks. I don't have any stones in my gym, but there's a few local strongmen who do; always a crazy workout when your lifting up random stones!

Not smooth, but these are from nature and shouldn't have to worry about them walking away out of the yard.

I credit this group with thinking about stones as a workout implement. They really work you in ways other equipment misses. Most of mine come from farmland in the Midwest.

Stone history probably started the exact same way it develops today; some dude saw a big stone and said, “I bet I could lift that”, and so he did. My rock came from the property of my coach at the time. It weighs roughly 165lbs, made of some kind of granite. It is sharp at points, but it has good grips. It is not quite evenly weighted, but I think that makes it a good training stone. I call it the Rugged Nugget (ruggie nuggy for short).

Our pond has them all around the edge. All dug up from our property, all hefted down. Varying sizes and shapes, but the amount of granite tells you you’re in for a good time.
