Out of the metal Hex Dumbbells I have, these ones are my favorite. The fit and finish is nicer than my CAP Hex dumbbells. The casting and protective coating is nicer, but slightly slicker. There is no real knurling on the handles, but it’s not a huge deal. The pairs I have are 40’s and 50’s seen in the picture.

This is essentially a pinch block that’s a 2.5x2.5x cube. It has a slight layering texture to it, similar to a 3D Print, a little more so than the sphere. I again like how during the winter it isnt and cold. It’s also lighter than a metal cube. I chose the picture I did, to show the texture.

I wasn’t sure what to think of resin grip tools at first, but I decided to give the a shot and I figured since they weren’t metal, it would be easier to use during the winter. It’s not as cold and I like that. I really like the Sphere shape, you feel it in the whole hand. The material itself is slick-ish for the most part but you can almost feel a slight texture to it almost feels 3D printed-ish. It’s lighter than a metal ball. Chalk is a must.

I got mine years ago to do P90X, the max weight is 220lbs according to the current specs online. I was heavier than that when I used it a lot. Sometimes with a chair, as a way to do assisted pull-ups, but then when I was able to do unassisted, I used it a lot. It was good way to get pull-ups in, but wasn’t as good as a fixed bar for pull-ups. The build quality isn’t amazing, thin metal and some foam on the bar/handles. It also doubles as some push-up handles too. The foam is okay. If you’re in a pinch where you need a pull up bar, you don’t have a way to mount anything and you want to be able to pullups. The doorway bars like this are great for people in apartments or someone who just wants to bust out a few pull-ups any time they go thru a door. Just leave it up as a challenge.

If you’re not particular on plates and you’re looking to add weight to your gym, these will do. They are not high end plates but you can usually pick them up locally at sporting good stores. Some people like them due to the handles, and while that’s nice, I think the lip on a standard plate is just fine. I would be nervous that over time they would break at the “grip” if you’re doing heavy dead’s and possibly drop it on the handle portion. I had them in my gym for a short bit and didn’t love them, but didn’t hate them they just aren’t for me. They look cool “locked” together on the bar similar to Troy barbell plates, but personally I didn’t like the aestetic along side my other plates. My buddy now has them in his gym. Along with the “Curl Bar Fairy” EZ bar, that the guy who had the plates tossed into the deal. I’d recommend them to anyone who’s not particular in their setup and just want plates added to their home gym, but not someone looking for higher end plates, or a certain aesthetic.

Over all I’m content with this Tricep Rope. It is not my favorite version of this attachment I’ve used. The old beat up and super soft ropes in the last gym I went to was my favorite. This feels more like a nylon rope vs a fiber/soft rope. The nylon feel allows it to get a little slick during hot workouts where you might have some sweaty hands. It’s pretty firm and not soft at all, but like I said. It gets the job done. There is a little “cut” in the rope that has been worn into the rope by the bracket/attachment point (you can see it frayed in the picture I uploaded). I don’t feel like it will fail because of it, and I am contemplating maybe replacing it just to get a better one and maybe giving this one to a friend. I have other things I’d rather buy first, who knows…it works but I don’t love it.

I have been piecing my dumbbells together over the years and managed to pick up these old CAP Rubber coated hex dumbbells from a friend for a great price. He got them from his uncle who had them for quite a long time, and he only had them for a few years when he realized he didn’t actually ever use them and used his adjustable dumbbells more. He kept the lighter set and sold me the 60’s and 70’s. They are great and a lot better quality than I expected. I don’t love the “palm swell” on the comfort grip, but honestly it’s not bad. I’d prefer a straight handle but it does add to the grip. The knurling feels good and allows for a good purchase in hand. The rubber is pretty well constructed and doesn’t have much wear or tear. The hex portion is a little bigger than you’d get with a cast hex dumbbell, but that’s just the nature of the beast with rubber coated dumbbells. They get the job done and I wouldn’t be opposed to buying more of the same as long as the quality hasn’t changed over the years. I will eventually try and get a pair of 80’s 90’s and 100’s but I’m not in any rush since I have loadable dumbbell handles.

First I want to start off by saying my Stall Mats are “RedBarn” brand made in the USA. I tried to add them to the list, but it says it was merged (to these?). Anyway, I’m sure they are pretty close to being the same. I love horse stall mats! I slowly built my flooring collection over time. 2 stall mats here, 1 there, 2 more, etc… eventually I was able to build out my gym and cover probably 90ish% of my garage floor. In general these are great! There are some edges that don’t line up perfectly, due to being bought at separate times so if you can swing it, buy all the mats you need at one time from the same pallet to help with fit. Not a huge deal. This adds a profession feel to the home gym and gives you support without being too squishy or too expensive. Mine have the buttons under and that is supposed to help with airflow. They are a fraction of the cost and thicker than most rolled rubber flooring. Very protective and are tough! They are meant for farm animals so they can support the weight. Each stall mat are around 100lbs and can be a hassle to move, but worth it. A lot of people complain about the smell, but the smell never bothered me, I smell them more during the summer when it’s hot, but it just smells like “the gym”. Even though I have most of my gym covered and I don’t have “room” for any more, I still dream about buying more whenever I drive past the farm stores lol. I have the need for one more once I clean up a section of my storage area and will probably get joy in getting to buy another mat lol. The joys of being a home gym owner!!
