The essentials

My response to someone who asks me, "What equipment should I buy to start a good strength training home gym?" Although building out one's home gym can be an ongoing task (just ask my wife!), the equipments that I consider to be the "meat and potatoes" of any good strength training home gym are: a barbell, plates, power rack, adjustable bench, and dumbbells (adjustable is more space saving and cost-effective for home gyms). And of course, a good flooring. The specific items on this list are good examples of those equipments.
