Elite USA 90

I've seen all the fancy adjustable dumbbells, I know I'm suppose to love the Reppin's, or whatever other adjustable dumbbell is the new hotness, but I love the simplicity of Powerblock. I owned IronMasters before these (I sold them at the peak of the pandemic when dumbbells were scarce, does that make me a terrible person?), but the flaking chrome on the handles was annoying and the extra space needed to load up the dumbbell drove my wife crazy. These are the perfect middle ground. Stainless steel knurled handles, stores compactly, quick enough weight changes, and made in the USA.

I bought these new during covid. Major upgrade from the laudable dumbbells I was working with previously. Overall I like them a lot. They are comfortable resting on your leg with the flat ends and go heavy enough for most things. The adder weights can be a bit of a pain swapping in plans out quickly, but nothing you can get used to. Overall solid option for people limited on space imo

Value is relative to the deal you can get, as I was able to get these + a stand for $450 from FBM. However, I would agree with most of the criticisms about the clunkiness of these as you go up in weight, as they can get awkward to do movements like OHP once you get into the 70s. However, they are still quite a bit cheaper than a full DB set and are very simple in terms of their build making DIY upgrades and maintenance a lot easier

These are not a bad Facebook marketplace pick up but the quick turn mechanism on the new model adjustable dumbbells are a way better choice

I love em. Haven’t used the other adjustable dumbbells and don’t care to. Quick and Easy to adjust. Knurling is aggressive. They’re near perfect. Recommend waiting for a sale, they run them all the time.

I’m a huge fan of powerblocks They are quick to adjust, the square design doesn’t bother me for the exercises I use them for (mostly just arm accessory work and chest supported rows) They feel good during pressing movements The exercises that feel awful with them, like overhead tricep extensions, I’ve never really liked doing My wife also dropped these from head height, while doing OHP, and they survived

Got these about 4 years ago. At the time, the Peppins were out of my price range. I have used them quite a bit, and I do not throw them around. I never drop them, or throw them on the floor, and am always sure to be as gentle as possible when setting them down. Some coating has come off the plates, but overall the black coating has held up well. Handles have no sign of wear. I have had two minor issues with them however. One of the 2.5 lb weight inserts on the inside seems to get "stuck" and does not slide out as well as it should. The insert itself has minimal wear and does not get stuck because of rust build up or anything like that. I can get it out, but usually have to shake/bang the handle on a horse stall mat of course, to get it out. Not a huge deal, but should not happen and hinders the convenience of adjustable dumbbells. Second issue is, on one dumbbell, when I select 60lbs, sometimes the 70lb plate will be stuck to it on the outside. Again, not sure why this happens but for the price it is not something I should have to deal with. Overall, this is a good product and I am sure these issues would not happen with 98% of other units as long as you care for them like I have. I would recommend to a friend, but it probably would not be my first recommendation for an adjustable dumbbell.

I prefer the build of the pros in most cases, the rails are thinner, the plates are urethane coated, and there is a bit of flex in them where these elites are welded, which don't take drops as well. Still for many people they like the quick changeability of them.

Used these ages ago and never really liked them. They're big and clunky and limit you on some normal dumbell exercises you can do

Picked up a set of the 90's on Facebook Marketplace, some scuffing but have held up great. The cage does not bother me. Overall great dumbell.
