Upgraded from the Shogun sports metal sled. This is a must have if you are 1) Doing sled work 3X a week or more 2) Your terrain is mostly asphalt or NOT LEVEL 3) You’re in a residential neighborhood with a lot of neighbors and noise is a concern 3) You hate the idea of loading an reloading a metal sled everytime you use it 4) If you want to easily switch between workout partners on a single sled
All of the above is DOABLE on a metal sled, but the sled will not do any of the above as well as the tank can. When I bought one I knew I was a buy-it-for-life piece and it has proven itself as such.
There are some accessories that are kinda mandatory. If you need to maneuver the tank into corners or areas, there’s is a wheel attachment that lets you do that. Get it, it’s pretty solid. If you want to load with some weights, you can add the weight horn. Lastly, a belt squat strap or similar for pull work. I have a rope setup and a strap that just lives on this thing.
If I had an indoor dedicated turf strip I’d probably just keep a metal sled to save money but then I’d be paying for the indoor space and the indoor heat. Not saying it will be a wash but there are hidden costs to dedicated spaces in gyms.
Lastly, since this is on wheels, I’ve been able to use it over snow and compacted ice. While not optimal, it helped me keep using the sled well into the winter months. Which would be impossible in a metal sled.
Great product and I don’t expect to ever sell it.
